Free Assembly Plaid Jacket – Classic Pattern Meets Modern Fit
We designed our plaid jacket to be the layer you reach for when the morning air turns cool and your outfit needs just one more element to feel complete. The fabric is a brushed cotton-poly blend that softens with every wash, and the plaid itself is woven—not printed—so the pattern holds true season after season.

The plaid in our free assembly plaid jacket is a true woven check—navy and burgundy threads crossing cream—which means it won’t fade the way a printed pattern can. We chose a medium-weight cotton-poly blend that balances warmth and breathability, so you stay comfortable when temperatures hover in the 50s and 60s. The brushed finish on both sides gives the fabric a soft hand right out of the package, and that softness only improves after the first few washes.

Fit & Styling
The jacket is cut with a relaxed, slightly oversized fit that works with our brand philosophy: comfort first, style naturally follows. The drop shoulders sit about an inch lower than a traditional set-in sleeve, giving you full range of motion and room to layer a hoodie or thermal underneath when the temperature drops further. The 28-inch center-back length on a size medium covers your belt line and hits mid-hip, long enough to stay put when you reach overhead but short enough to avoid bunching when you sit.
Layering Options
We see customers wearing this jacket over everything from plain white tees to chunky cable-knit sweaters. The navy-burgundy-cream palette plays well with denim in any wash, olive chinos, or even grey joggers for a weekend errand run. If you want a slightly more structured look, the Free Assembly blazer shares the same relaxed-fit ethos but swaps plaid for solid twill, and both pieces work under the same denim trucker or bomber when wind picks up.

Construction & Hardware
We used matte resin buttons instead of metal or plastic because they’re lightweight, durable, and quieter—no clinking when the jacket shifts in your bag or dryer. The two chest pockets close with button flaps to keep your phone secure, and the side hand pockets are lined with the same soft jersey we use in our tees so your hands feel cozy when you tuck them in. All seams are double-stitched at stress points—underarm, shoulder, and pocket joins—to handle weekly wear and frequent washing without fraying.
The collar is unlined and soft enough to fold down flat or pop up against a breeze. We skipped stiff interfacing because we wanted the jacket to feel lived-in from day one, not starchy.

Plaid Jacket Questions
The plaid jacket shares the same relaxed-fit philosophy as the rest of our outerwear line, with drop shoulders and a roomy body that allows for easy layering. It runs true to size, and the 28-inch center-back length on a size medium is consistent with our denim trucker and quilted shirt jacket. If you normally wear a medium in our tees or hoodies, a medium in this jacket will give you the same comfortable, slightly oversized fit.
Yes. The plaid is woven into the fabric rather than printed, so the pattern won’t fade or bleed in the wash. We recommend washing in cold water with like colors and tumble drying on low. The cotton-poly blend resists shrinkage, and the brushed finish actually gets softer with repeated washing.
The jacket works best in temperatures between 50 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s a medium-weight layer with a soft brushed finish that provides light insulation, but it’s designed to be layered over tees, henleys, or hoodies for added warmth. If you need heavier insulation, consider our sherpa-lined jacket for colder days.
If you plan to layer a hoodie or crewneck sweatshirt underneath, order your usual size. The relaxed fit and drop shoulders already provide enough room for layering without sizing up. A size medium will comfortably fit over a medium hoodie with space to move.
The two chest pockets are fully functional with button flaps to secure contents. Each pocket is sized to hold a smartphone, keys, or a slim wallet without sagging. The side hand pockets are also deep and lined with soft jersey fabric.
Currently the jacket is available in our navy-burgundy-cream woven plaid. We design colorways based on customer feedback and seasonal trends, so additional options may be introduced in future collections. Sign up for our newsletter to stay updated on new releases.
Pair the jacket with a plain tee or henley, medium-wash or dark denim, and white sneakers or canvas low-tops for an effortless everyday outfit. The navy and burgundy tones also work well with olive or khaki chinos. For cooler days, layer it over a crewneck sweatshirt in grey or cream and finish with boots or high-top sneakers.
