Free Assembly Wide Leg Jeans
Our Free Assembly wide leg jeans bring back the relaxed, laid-back silhouette of vintage denim with a modern update. Cut from our signature stretch cotton blend, these jeans sit high on the waist and flow into a generous wide leg that skims the hip and thigh without clinging.

We built these wide leg jeans from a 98% cotton, 2% elastane denim that balances structure with give. The cotton provides that authentic denim hand and durability you expect from a quality pair of jeans, while the elastane gives just enough stretch to move with you throughout the day without bagging out at the knees or seat.

Sizing & fit guidance
Free Assembly wide leg jeans are designed to fit true to size at the waist with a relaxed fit through the hip and thigh. The high rise measures approximately 11 inches from crotch seam to top of waistband on a size 8, sitting comfortably above your natural waistline.
The leg opening measures 22 inches in circumference, creating that signature wide leg drape without overwhelming your frame. If you typically wear a size 8 in our other denim styles, we recommend sticking with that same size here. The stretch in the fabric provides about half an inch of give in the waist, so if you’re between sizes, choose your usual size rather than sizing up. We offer petite, regular, and tall inseams to accommodate different heights—petite measures 30 inches, regular 32 inches, and tall 34 inches from crotch seam to hem.

Styling versatility across seasons
The beauty of a wide leg jean is how easily it transitions between casual and polished looks depending on what you pair it with. For everyday wear, we love these with a tucked-in graphic tee or relaxed button-down and low-profile sneakers—the wide leg balances out chunkier footwear without looking bottom-heavy.
When you want to dress them up, swap in a fitted knit top or silk blouse and add heeled ankle boots or mules. The dark indigo wash reads more refined than lighter washes, making it appropriate for casual office environments when paired with a blazer. In warmer months, cuff the hem once or twice to show a bit of ankle and wear with slides or sandals. The high rise also makes these ideal for tucking in tops, which helps define your waistline and shows off the full silhouette of the wide leg.

Common questions about Free Assembly wide leg jeans
Free Assembly wide leg jeans are designed to sit high on your natural waistline with a relaxed fit through the hip and thigh, then flow into a generous wide leg opening that measures 22 inches in circumference. Unlike skinny jeans that hug close to the leg or straight leg jeans that follow a consistent width from hip to hem, these create a relaxed, vintage-inspired silhouette.
The high rise is the same across our denim line, so if you wear a size 8 in our skinny or straight styles, stick with that size in the wide leg. The difference is entirely in the leg shape below the hip—the waist and hip measurements remain true to size.
We offer three inseam options to accommodate different heights. Our petite inseam measures 30 inches and works well if you’re 5’4″ and under, hitting at or just above the ankle. The regular 32-inch inseam is designed for heights between 5’5″ and 5’8″, typically grazing the top of your shoe.
Our tall inseam measures 34 inches and suits heights 5’9″ and above, providing full coverage to the floor with heels or boots. All inseam measurements are taken from the crotch seam to the bottom hem. If you prefer a cropped look or plan to cuff the hem, you can size down one inseam length from your usual choice.
You can tumble dry these jeans on low heat, but air drying will extend their lifespan and help maintain the fit over time. High heat can cause the cotton fibers to shrink slightly and may weaken the elastane, leading to loss of stretch recovery.
If you do use the dryer, remove the jeans while they’re still slightly damp and hang them to finish drying—this minimizes shrinkage and reduces wrinkles. For best results, turn the jeans inside out before drying to protect the outer surface and preserve the indigo color.
All denim will experience some degree of fading with repeated wear and washing, but our dark indigo wash is pre-washed and dye-set to minimize dramatic color loss. Washing in cold water, turning the jeans inside out, and limiting wash frequency to every 5-7 wears will help preserve the deep indigo tone.
Avoid using bleach or harsh detergents, which can strip color unevenly. Most customers find that the jeans soften and develop a subtle worn-in look after several months of regular wear, but they retain the overall dark wash character rather than fading to a light blue.
The 2% elastane content provides enough stretch for comfortable movement while maintaining shape throughout the day. You may notice a small amount of relaxation in the waist after several hours of wear—about a quarter to half inch—but the jeans won’t bag out at the knees or seat the way 100% cotton denim often does.
The wide leg silhouette is designed to drape rather than cling, so any minor stretching in the waist area won’t affect the overall look of the jeans. After washing, the fabric returns to its original dimensions.
Yes, we specifically offer a petite inseam option to ensure the proportions work for shorter heights. The wide leg opening is the same across all inseam lengths, so you get the full wide leg silhouette without excess fabric pooling at your ankles.
Many petite customers find that pairing these with heeled boots or platform sneakers helps balance the volume of the wide leg, though they also work well with flat shoes if you choose the petite inseam. The high rise visually lengthens your legs, which is particularly flattering on petite frames.
Both styles feature a relaxed fit, but the silhouette differs significantly. Our wide leg jeans flow straight down from the hip with a consistent wide opening from thigh to hem, creating a column-like shape. The barrel jean, by contrast, has a curved barrel-shaped leg that’s widest at the thigh and knee, then tapers in slightly toward the ankle.
The wide leg offers a more dramatic, vintage-inspired look and pairs well with fitted tops, while the barrel jean has a modern, sculptural shape that works with both fitted and oversized tops. Both sit high on the waist and use the same stretch cotton denim, so the choice comes down to the leg shape you prefer.
